2014 NFL Draft: Carolina Panthers select Trai Turner

Nelson Chenault-US PRESSWIRE

With the 92nd pick in the draft, the Panthers finally added to their offensive line with a solid 6'3" 310 lb guard out of LSU.

After addressing a need in the first round with Kelvin Benjamin and taking arguably the true "best-player-available" in the second with Kony Ealy, the Panthers finally brought in a player to help keep Cam Newton upright.

Trai Turner is a two-year starter from LSU at guard who could have improved his draft stock by staying in school another year, but decided to declare early.  Maybe his gamble will prove to be a boon for the blocker-needy Panthers, as they get him a year younger and at a lower pick.

Only time will tell, but it is good to finally say "Thank you Dave, for a while there we thought you might want Cam to get killed!"

Welcome to Charlotte Trai, and KEEP POUNDING!
