Panthers 2014 NFL Mock Draft Round-Up

Chris Trotman

Here's a collection of the finals mock draft results for the Panthers 1st round pick at #28 followed by a graph of the number of mock picks by position. Upon analysis the national pundits think the Panthers will address their biggest need.

Here's a table of NFL draft websites and their final mock draft pick for the Panthers at #28:

Morgan Moses got a whopping 46% of the picks which can only mean one thing:

There is no way the Panthers are going to draft Morgan Moses!

I went with Marqise Lee in SBN Blogger's mock draft as reported back in April. I think the Panthers are more apt to pick Kouandio over Moses in my view if they do select an offensive tackle. I'll be anxious to see who (if anyone) gets it right.

Here's a summary by player:

Player # Picks Position
Morgan Moses 13 OT
Cyrus Kouandjio 4 OT
Marqise Lee 2 WR
Joel Bitonio 2 OT
Jason Verrett 1 CB
Kelvin Banjamin 1 WR
JaWuan James 1 OT
Calvin Pryor 1 FS
Jordan Matthews 1 WR
Kony Ealy 1 DE
Trade 1

Here's a another summary by position:

Position # Picks
OT 20
WR 4
TRADE 1
DE 1
CB 1
FS 1

So again, the pundits pick on need because honestly they really don't have much more to go on. Yet we know Gettleman will not reach for a OT as he firmly believes you can get good players at this position later in the draft. Much of the same can be said for WR in this draft. Hence I think in the end the Panthers pick a defensive player at CB, S or DE that represents more value and then looks to address needs later on when their is less risk in reaching for a player.

Finally I have to address the trade with Houston mocked by Ryan Van Bibber. What a perfect scenario that would be huh? I would think that would garner at least an additional 3rd round pick if not a little more on the back end of the draft. So maybe a 3rd and a 7th or a 4th and 6th? Maybe just a 3rd is it. Would you make that trade, sliding back 5 picks to the 2nd round while adding #65 overall? Sounds like a good deal to me.
