Godfrey will participate in OTA practices on a limited basis. Kugbila still rehabbing. http://t.co/HpR7GAsHkk— Joe Person (@josephperson) May 27, 2014
Seems like everybody who were reading into an article on the Panthers' website about 2 months ago were correct. It was indeed a cleverly worded article that fooled many into thinking that Kug was going to be healthy. I, like a few others, read it carefully and had come to a conclusion that he was not healthy yet. Seems like that was indeed the hidden message.
What are you guys' thoughts on Kug's contribution to the offense this year? "Big bodies take longer time to heal." Yes, but 8 months is a VERY long time for a hammy strain to heal. Even ACLs can heal in a year. Kug had a strained hamstring and a sore knee when he was placed on IR. Since he isn't back from it yet, it makes me think his knee issue is probably more than just soreness. Let's hope its not a chronic problem.
CSR Editor Update:
Here's the timeline on Kugbila's injuries. First he injured his left knee and then his hammy:
Inside the Panthers: Kugbila carted off with hamstring injury
The fourth-round pick from Valdosta (Ga.) State injured his hamstring Saturday during the Panthers' second training camp practice. The injury comes after Kugbila missed most of OTAs and minicamp with a left knee injury.
He then went on IR after not being able to come back from the hammy issue quick enough:
Inside the Panthers: Panthers place fourth-round draft pick Kugbila on IR
The Panthers placed G Edmund Kugbila on the injured reserve after the rookie struggled to come back from a hamstring injury that sidelined him all of training camp. "We had to make a tough decision with Edmund," coach Ron Rivera said. "The hard part is the young man has worked so hard. He’s flashed so much for us and you get excited about the young man but this last little situation—the tweak with the knee and all that stuff—in the long term, with our medical staff, they feel this is the best thing for him.
So all this time and he still needs more time? It might be time to cut bait with this guy.
