Let's start with the measureables: 6'6", 322lbs, and nearly 36 inch arms. Just looking at him makes me think of Jon Jones if he were to gain 140lbs and fight heavy weight. Supperior athlete in every facet of the word.
Now, after watching most of the available game tape on dbd, I am really impressed with this guys potential. He DEFINITELY has flaws, but who doesnt? He has a really good punch in pass pro, along with active feet. Pretty good bend, but can get sloppy when caught off guard by speed rushers. Probably my favorite thing about him is his dominance when run blocking. He is a true mauler who can latch and churn his man out of the play. Pretty consistent in blitz pick up, and knowing his assignment. Often times bailed out his brother who played next to him at the guard position. Also, very effective, and athletic enough to disrupt linebackers at the second level. Started all games at left tackle for both 2012 and 2013 seasons. Which is why i'm not buying the knee story.
Now, his kick slide is definitely not the best, but its not the worst. Also, he has issues against speed rushers which stems directly from his poor kick slide. When he over extends he tends to put his head down, as if hes pushing a car. Had 3 bad plays in the sugar bowl against a speed rusher. Though contrary to popular belief, he played a solid game, and was exceptional in the run game.
So, hes got some issues. He also has a boat load of ability, and natural athletic talent that cant be taught. A lot of his cons can be cured through proper coaching. When you look at how high of a ceiling the tackles in this draft have, you have to put him no lower than 2, below Robinson. All i'm saying is i'd be happy if we take him at 28. So i ask that if you haven't watched his tape, give it a shot. He might surprise you.
