A Quick Preview of the 2014 Panthers Offense

There are a lot of question marks surrounding the Panthers offense going into the 2014 season. Some of these questions are warranted but at the same time, we may be blowing some of these problems out of proportion.

Lets start with the offensive line, even though we lost Gross, we still have a Pro Bowl Center. We drafted arguably the second best Offensive Guard in the Draft and have Silatolu coming back from injury. Our tackles that are currently on the roster do not scream success but I believe we have to have faith in John Matsko that he will have the bookends of the line playing at a competent level.

Behind the Line we still have one of the best playmakers in the NFL in Cameron Newton (SuperCam). Pair him with DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart, Mike Tolbert, or even Kenjon Barner and you have a quality backfield.

At TE we still have Ole Reliable in Greg Olsen and also added the freakishly athletic Ed Dickson.

Now to our biggest question mark, and what has our fanbase in a tizzy, WR. With the departure of Steve Smith, Brandon Lafell, and Ted Ginn the Panthers lost easily their best receiving corp they had in years. The reason that losing that receiving corp isn't that scary is because they were just average. They are now being replaced by proven receivers Jerricho Cotchery and Jason Avant, a speed WR in Tiquan Underwood and 1st round draft pick, 6’5", Kelvin Benjamin. This new group of receivers not only has the ability to be just as good as last years group but I believe when it is all said and done they will be better.

The talent is still there for Cam to make things happen. As long as the line and backfield stays relatively healthy then I believe this group of WR's will outperform last years and will result in Newtons best year as a pro yet.

In closing, I have full faith in Gettleman at this moment and I believe everyone else should too. I didn’t like seeing Smitty go but it was definitely the right decision and I am just glad we had a GM that had the intestinal fortitude to make to make the move that would shake the fanbase.
