Thank you for reading Panther Nation! Let me start by saying that I think overall our draft was fine. We addressed some key needs and added depth while staying true to our philosophy. That being said, it might be a stretch to think that our group of drafties will lead to immediate success. It's nice to fantasize about our first three picks coming in and changing things immediately but just think about it from our opposing teams view. When we play the falcons, I think Greg Hardy will be able to destroy Jake Matthews and he is arguably the best OL in the draft. So please don't start promising me that Trai Turner is going to save our offensive line and that Kelvin Benjamin will be the new Megatron.
I enjoy watching the highlight videos and reading the draft profiles but we won't know how these guys will effect the team until game time. Heck, Marcus Lucas (WR UDFA signee) who is 6' 4" could prove to be the big man we are looking for and Kelvin could ride the bench. I don't want to seem negative and let it be known I have the upmost of faith in our organization. It just seems like all the statistical talk is wearing thin and we won't know what happens until these guys get out there and work. This is one of the reasons why I love that our team drafts and builds around character as well as potential and skill. Yeah Kelvin is huge but Avant and Cotchery are smart enough to be relevant at 9+ years in the league. Bring the students and teachers together and watch us teach the NFL about just how schooling is done. The same goes for Kalil and Turner or any other group you care to mention.
What it boils down to is this. We won't know for a few more months what these guys can do but I LLOOOOVVVVEEEE speculating until then. We all know it's just speculation, I just hope some of you don't let it get the best of you and call for Gettlemen's resignation just because Kelvin may struggle and Bene isn't the next Sam Shields. Keep Pounding, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
