SBN Bloggers Mock Draft Update: Top 10 Is Complete

Streeter Lecka

The annual SBN NFL bloggers mock draft is in full swing and the first 10 picks have been posted. As you would expect it has been interesting. At #6 the Falcons go with defense while the Bucs follow them with offense. Here's my thoughts on the top 10 picks.

1. Houston Texans: Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville (Write up here)

I'm thinking this is the pick the Texans will make. They cannot wait until the 2nd round in hope of getting a long term solution to the QB spot. Of course if they do, they could trade up with the Panthers at #28 and get a second tier guy right?

2. St. Louis Rams: Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M (Write up here)

It didn't take long to get a shocker pick. Obviously the Rams blogger doesn't have much faith in QB Sam Bradford. I'm not sold on Johnny Football's game translating to the NFL but I'm sure he will put fans in the seats.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina (Write up here)

The Jags would or at least should be ecstatic to land Clowney at #3. I'm convinced he is worth the hype and is going to be awesome coming off the edge. I just hope he does land in the AFC.

4. Cleveland Browns: Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn (Write up here)

The Rams taking Manziel really muffed this pick for the Browns blogger. If the Browns ever get a QB he will have some awesome protection in front of him with this guy at RT and Joe Thomas at LT. It's a good BPA pick but doesn't really help the Browns win more games in my humble opinion.

5. Oakland Raiders: Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida (Write up here)

Obviously the Raiders blogger isn't seeing Matt Schaub as a long term solution in Oakland and neither am I. He also says he is shocked to see Bortles available here. I'm not but its still a good pick for them. They need to address the QB and Bortles has a lot of upside while not needing to start right away.

6. Atlanta Falcons: Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo (Write up here)

Good pick for the Falcons, bad pick for the Panthers and Cam Newton. Mack might end up harassing Panther QBs much like John Abraham did for years. Coming from a college like Buffalo makes me leery of a guy like Mack, at least this high in the draft. I can't explain why but for some reason I think he's going to struggle to make the transition.

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson (Write up here)

This a a total FML scenario for the Panthers as the Bucs get a player sure to torture the Panthers for years to come. Of course they still need a QB that can get him the ball.

8. Minnesota Vikings: Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State (Write up here)

Wow... this appears to be another reach at QB for the Vikings but when you need a QB you have to get them. I'm not sure the Vikings are truly ready to give up on Ponder but maybe they should. It seems to me they should instead try to get him some help either by taking the tackle in Matthews or a WR like Evans.

9. Buffalo Bills: Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M (Write up here)

With the need for a RT I don't see how they passed on Jake Matthews given how deep the draft is at WR. I do love Evans though and think he's going to be awesome but the Bills have some good WRs in Johnson, Goodwin and Woods.

10. Detroit Lions: Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M (Write up here)

I can't believe Matthews slid this far though it's still not far enough for the Panthers to move up should it actually play out like this. As the Lions blogger states, they would probably like to trade back but not to #28.

Check back at Mocking the Draft to check for the daily posting of Mock Draft picks. I'm monitoring this closely as my turn to submit the pick for the Panthers is coming fast. So far I still have some good players to choose from.
