Your nominations are in, and the bracket has been set. Below you will find the two 8-seed brackets, the Bill Polian Division and the Marty Hurney Division, named after the two best GMs in team history. The field was set based on the amount of recs each player received in the previous nomination thread and my random grouping of players.
There were two ties that had to be broken. Mike Tolbert and Stephen Davis each had 36 recs, and due to Kevin Greene having 39 recs only one of them could be a 3 seed. The editorial staff conducted a vote to break the tie with Davis winning unanimously. The second tie was between Brentson Buckner and Dwan Edwards who both received 14 recs. To determine which player was a 7 seed and which player was an 8 seed, I flipped a coin and declared Edwards the winner of the 7th seed in the bracket.
But enough about that. Here's the tournament bracket in all its glory:

Alright, now it's time to go over the voting rules. I'm not doing the voting via polls this time around, because I want to create a system where I can do more than one vote per article if I need to speed this tournament along in the future. It's not complicated as long as everyone follows the one rule for voting. To vote for your preferred player, all you have to do is type Vote - [player name] in the subject line. (Yes, just like you did for the nominations.)
In each post I will provide you the two voting options to choose from (that way you can just copy/paste and don't have to worry about spelling names correctly), so be sure to check the bottom of each post for your voting choices.
In the nomination thread I was more lenient towards nominations that didn't completely follow the proper format, but for the voting rounds I will not count any vote that doesn't adhere to the guideline. If you do not vote using the correct format, your vote will not count. I repeat, If you do not vote using the correct format, your vote will not count.
Let's say it one more time for good measure:
If you do not vote using the correct format, your vote will not count.
I'm sure you're wondering why I'm doing it this way. Well, allow me to explain.
Using the comment thread to vote accomplishes two things:
1) It prevents the troll vote in the poll because anyone can anonymously click a button and vote in a poll, but only registered members of the community can write a comment.
2) It allows discussions to occur in the comment thread because you can provide reasoning behind your voting decision in the comment box.
I think this format will work out better for everyone once you get the hang of it. However, if it doesn't work out and everyone ends up hating it so much that you stop taking part in voting, I will consider reverting back to using the poll system. (I'm not that bad of a dictator, right?)
Now that we have all that stuff out of the way, let's get to voting in the first matchup, shall we?
Our first matchup will be (1) Jake Delhomme vs. (8) Brentson Buckner.
Below are your two options for voting:
To vote for Jake Delhomme, simply type: Vote - Jake
To vote for Brentson Buckner, simply type: Vote - Buckner
I think everyone is familiar enough with both players to avoid a paragraph highlighting each player's accomplishments, so I will spare you the extra reading.
Alright Panthers fans, vote for your favorite! Voting for this matchup will close at 12 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday), so be sure to get your vote in before it's too late!
Author's note: A special hat tip goes out to the staff at Cageside Seats who use this tournament format and gave me the idea to try it here at CSR.
