The wait until this NFL Draft has been far too long, but May is now its home and that wont change. A later draft means people are talking about football year round and whether you like it or not, the league LOVES it. That could extend one step further with Roger Goodell exploring the idea of dragging out the draft further.
You thought @NFL Draft was already a big event? Roger Goodell told me today league will consider stretching it to 4 days (still 7 rounds).

ugh
The advantages from a league perspective are clear: More TV, more money, more programming, more notoriety -- but making the draft LONGER definitely wasn't something the event needed.
Presumably a new-look draft would be showing the first round on Thursday, followed by the second and third on Friday, forth and fifth on Saturday then wrapping up the last two rounds on Sunday. Yes it would mean shorter days, but how many people are really going to be tuning in on the last day to see sixth and seventh round picks?
We can complain, but it wont change anything. If the league is exploring it then it will probably happen.
