Without further a due, the WR that I am talking about is:
Jeff Janis from Saginaw Valley State
His combine data:
Height Weight Official 40 Unoff. 40 10-yd Sp Vert. Broad Arm Hand
Projected Round (2014) (Before Combine): 6-FA.
3/29/14: It isn't easy for small-school players to get invites to the Senior Bowl, especially at the skill positions. Offensive and defensive linemen have more luck getting invited to Mobile, Alabama, but the skill position players are less likely to get invites. Janis was able to buck the trend and participated in the most high-profile all-star game. At the Senior Bowl, he was solid but unimpressive.
Janis was one of the top receivers in the nation in Division II over the past few seasons. In 2013, he totaled 83 receptions for 1,572 yards and 14 touchdowns. Janis has good size for the NFL.
I feel that we should consider drafting J. Janis in the fifth round because our pick is at the back end of the round. He would be good value at 6th and great value at 7th. The guy has everything, and I do mean everything except a big name Div I school career.
You talk size, he has size at 6' 3" and 219 lbs. You talk about speed, the guy ran an official 4.42 secs in the forty-yard dash with a 10-yard split of 1.47 secs in the combine. You talk about production, the guy had 83 receptions for 1,572 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2013.
As a mid to late round pick, we cannot expect him to start or even contribute much in 2014, but he will be a great development prospect for Coach Proehl. I believe that he would contribute sooner rather than later with his credentials.
In conclusion, as a fan of the Carolina Panthers, I hope our team pick him up in the draft.
