According to Jeff Reynolds of CBSSports.com, the Carolina Panthers are scheduled to meet with TCU cornerback Jason Verrett today.
Verrett is an undersized cornerback, standing at only 5-foot-9 inches, but has the most polished technique of any cornerback in this year’s Draft class. Despite his diminutive frame, Verrett is projected to be more than just a slot cornerback in the NFL, as several analysts agree that his elite cover skills will translate well on the outside as well.
Jason Verrett is an extremely fluid athlete on tape, and his Combine performance backs this up. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.38 seconds, and had an excellent vertical jump of 39 inches. At his Pro Day, he also bench pressed 225 pounds 19 times, which displays his excellent strength.
Verrett’s only question mark at this point is his shoulder injury, which he suffered against Texas Tech in September. Instead of opting for surgery, Verrett played through the pain for the rest of the 2013 season. He is currently scheduled to have surgery for his torn labrum later this month.
