Hey my first fanpost.
This is pure fantasy and not something I think we should actually do. I just happened to flip by ESPN and notice Hester was being released. It is the off-season and lets take a trip to the land of imagination. Devin Hester could be gotten relatively cheap. If Ricky Proehl could do for Hester what he has done for Ginn he could be another deep threat. Putting both men back on returns would mean no kicking away from a potential return TD.
I know there is still a small scar from the Richard Marshall- Gamble botched trick return, but what if these guys could pull that off two or three times a year? Do it once successfully and the pump fake could freeze everyone long enough to turn on the turbo boost. How about the read option options and double-triple reverses we could install. Hopefully there is enough imaginative interest in this to spark a fun discussion.
On the slightly real with the big IF that Proehl could coach him up which I wouldn't put much faith in Ginn and Hester split wide running little smoke routes could cause nightmares for defensive coordinators. Short quick passes would compensate for some of our O-Line deficiencies. These type of formations could open up running lanes for our RB's or Cam.
Hester and Williams in the Wildcat is another interesting wrinkle we could add. We would have to call Chud to consult because I'm not sure Shula can design creative plays like that. Anyway as I said this is pure fantasy and I would be unbelievably shocked if it happened, but feel free to encourage or deride my whimsical thoughts.
