Thirteen NFL teams received a total of 32 compensatory picks:
A total of 32 compensatory choices in the 2014 NFL Draft have been awarded to 13 teams, the NFL announced today.
Under the rules for compensatory draft selections, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks. The number of picks a team receives equals the net loss of compensatory free agents up to a maximum of four.
The 32 compensatory choices announced today will supplement the 224 choices in the seven rounds of the 2014 NFL Draft (May 8-10), which will kick off in primetime for the fifth consecutive year.
So that's a total 256 players will be picked in the upcoming
April May draft. (It's going to be a while before I think of the draft occurring in May instead of April)
Within our division Atlanta received 3 comp picks while the Saints and Bucs received zero like the Panthers. Next year should be a different story though. The Panthers should receive some compensation for Ted Ginn, Mike Mitchell and Captain Munnerlyn I would think. I'm not a guru on the rules, I think we need to make them something of an offer.
Signing Jerricho Cotchery might cancel out one of those. Maybe the same with Underwood.
