With Smitty's release today, the Panthers have recently offered Mr. Nicks a 4.5 million dollar deal over an unknown amount of years. It makes perfect sense considering we have 0 Panthers currently on the roster that caught a pass for us last season. Hakeem Nicks had better stats then Smitty last year, except for touchdowns that is. If we do bring Nicks in he will probably give us 1,000+ yards, and 6+touchdowns. That is huge improvement.
With Steve Smith on way out of CAR, Panthers still talking to Hakeem Nicks. Offering deal worth about $4.5M/season. Badly need WRs

However, Nicks is visiting the Colts tomorrow to negotiate. At this point, it's now or never for us to top the Colt's offer, whom currently have 26 million dollars in cap room. Looking at the Colt's receiver standings, they are better off than us, but who wouldn't want a combination of Nicks, Wayne, and T.Y Hilton? The Colt's will probably offer something in the neighborhood of 5-7 million a year for 2-5 years. Can we match what they offer? Would it be smart to offer more?
