The Panther's Free Agent Report: CB

Over the next few weeks with free agency on the horizon, I am going to bring to light some possible free agents that the Carolina Panthers pro player personnel department could have targeted to add to the roster. I am going to look at realistic options considering this team is still salary cap challenged for the upcoming 2014 NFL season. With that being said every player I take a look at could provide a nice piece to the puzzle as this team wants to build off last season's success.

The first free agent I want to take a look at is Nolan Carroll, CB Miami Dolphins. Carroll is a big corner standing at 6' 1" and weighing in at 205 lbs. He is only 27 years old, so he has plenty of good football left in him. Carroll could be a potential upgrade for the secondary that is set to have four of it's starters (Mitchell, Munnerlyn, Mikell, and Florence) all hitting free agency during this same time. Carroll has spent his entire four year career up to date with Miami and is coming off his most productive season yet starting 12 games.

Nolan Carroll is an UFA (Unrestricted Free Agent) so there is no strings attached to signing him to a contract as soon as free agency starts. I could see getting Carroll to come here for a deal in the range of 3 years for 6 million dollars. I think that would look good to him from what he has already gotten so far for his services in Miami. While at the same time working out well on Gettleman's books also.

I say this is a deal that I could see Gettleman pulling the trigger on if the details could be worked out to satisfy both parties involved. It would bring in a solid corner that has the size Gett's covets. It also would help free up some of the decision's on draft day so BPA could be used throughout where the Panthers are drafting. Plus he is young enough that he would have the opportunity to grow with the defense and be part of a team that is on the cusp on something special.
