Gano was an integral member of the Panthers in 2013 and a largely overlooked factor in the team's 12-4 record and playoff appearance last year. Terms have not been announced at this time, though it's likely he will make considerably more than the $715,000 he made.
The Panthers kicker was integral at setting up solid field position for the team's defense by leading the NFL in touchback percentage with 78.8-percent, while ranking 15th in the league in field goal kicking with 89 percent. He was one of the most important players for Carolina to retain in a season where Greg Hardy is getting the majority of attention.
It will be interesting to see what the final deal is worth. Gano has become one of the best kickers in the NFL and his contract could rival that of Robbie Gould of the Bears, who was given a four year, $15 million deal.
UPDATE: Rotoworld is reporting a Four year deal worth $12.4M
