Alright Cat Scratch Readers, this is the time of year when I am most actively checking this site as Panthers draft analysis here is second to none. I love the passion that this community expresses for this team and the knowledge of its contributors when it comes to assessing the needs of the team and even insight into the strategies by which the front office addresses those needs.
Here's where I seek your input. I'll be the first to admit that I don't watch much college football outside of cheering for my Alum, Ole Miss, and picking bowl games with my Pops. With the lack of knowledge that I have about college football (or at least the slew of talent available nation-wide), I want to feel informed on draft day and be able to talk to my Dad about who the Panthers might take and actually stand a chance at being close to right. It's not about pride in having guessed the picks, but more about being excited about getting a guy on my "board" and being able to share that excitement with my Dad along with a bit of info to justify that excitement.
What I would like to request (for those of you with a few minutes to spare and a willingness to spare them on me) is a quick list with a brief analysis of your top 5 players at the following positions that would fit for Carolina's first couple of picks: WR, DB, and OT.
Let's assume Jordan Gross re-signs (I'm 90% sure that he will) and we franchise Hardy (~70% IMO). Let's also assume need and BPA are met with each pick (a distinct possibility with the depth at our positions of need in this particular draft). Let's also toss out free agency to avoid confusion in this exercise as our needs may look different once we get past that point.
So, now that the parameters are set, who are the guys you think we would honestly pursue, based on who the general consensus says should be available with our first three picks? Thank you in advance to anyone who replies and also to anyone that patiently endured these 367 words. Keep Pounding.
