It's been unclear what Smith's status has been entering the weekend. Initially he announced via his personal Instagram account that he would play, then told media Monday that his chances were 60-percent, before finally noting that he will practice on Wednesday and will play in the playoffs.
Perhaps it's mind games from the veteran receiver, but there's no question he's vital to the team's chances on Sunday. Smith's production may have fallen off in 2013, but defenses need to account for him on every down -- opening up the rest of the offense. We saw what happened against New Orleans and Atlanta without him. Both games were wins, but hardly convincing displays on the offensive side of the ball.
Personally, it's hard to imagine anything stopping Smith from playing in his first playoff game in five years. This is a man who broke an arm on a reception and still carried the ball into the end zone, he lives for moments like this and wont be denied.
