While we all eagerly wait for the Panthers next opponent to be decided here is how I would conduct our offseason if I was GM:
The key decisions are whether to resign Hardy and Gross. I would definitely resign Gross as he has been one of the most consistently solid Left Tackles in the league this year. Unfortunately, with so many young stars (mind the pun) coming through and wanting to be paid soon, I don't see how we can resign Hardy. And, well, he is a bit overhyped. Yes hes young and yes he did have 15 sacks, but I would take CJ over him if I could only choose 1 for a big game. However, I do believe we should franchise Hardy and trade him for picks/players. I think we should trade him for a middle first round pick, and give up a 5/6th rounder. On to Pettigrew, I'v always been a fan of his, hes a solid blocker and could form a dynamic duo with Olsen, giving Cam another weapon in the offense.
For the other free agents (Lafell, Bell, ginn) i think we should resign Ginn and possibly Lafell too if hes cheap, but we need to upgrade, *cough Maclin cough*. Yes, i know hes injury prone but I think hes a solid #2 with a bright future.
Draft: Now with our two first rounders we could get exciting and splash out by trading up..but lets be real here, the panthers may be 12-4 but we have holes and Gettlemen doesn't strike me as the splash out kind of guy. Instead, I think we should grab the BPA Offensive Tackle and BPA Cornerback while targeting a defensive end in the 2nd round as there is plenty of depth this year. Lastly, I think we should target a WR and another OT in the middle rounds.
Getting a solid tackle to lead our line for years to come is crucial as when Cam gets sacked early he loses his rhythm and tends to escape the pocket too early. We also need to grab a Cornerback to pair with Munnerlynn as next year I think we need to offset the loss of the Kraken with a better secondary.
That's my offseason vision, its far from perfect but its realistic and I would be content, opinions?
