Pro Bowl draft 2014: Three Panthers selected on first day

Team Rice jumped out to an early start, selecting two Panthers

The NFL Pro Bowl draft needs two nights to conclude, because of course it does. Changing the format of the Pro Bowl is allowing the league to milk this puppy for all its worth, spreading the event over two days.

Tuesday night marked the first round of picks and Jerry Rice caught Panther-fever. He took two players from the team in the first half of the draft, headlined by Ryan Kalil.

It seems that Rice is aiming for a team loaded with beef. He went heavy on the offensive line, surrounding Kalil with Nick Mangold, Jahri Evans, Ben Grubbs and Evan Mathis. That's a whole lot of excellent protection for quarterback Drew Brees, who'll have another weapon in the backfield with Mike Tolbert also being selected to team Rice.

Long snappers were also selected by team coaches, thus putting J.J. Jansen on Deion Sanders' squad.

Cam Newton will be selected on Wednesday night, as well as other members of the Panthers added to the draft.
