When I first clinked into the rankings I was expecting to the Panthers in the bottom half if not the bottom 10. After all PFF ranked them #27 after last season. Instead they really surprised me with a huge jump into the top 10:
Stud: LT Jordan Gross (+33.5)
Gross just had one of the best years of his career. Certainly he can;t retire now right? As I heard him say recently this team has a chance to do even better next year so I'm hoping that keeps him around. Certainly Gettleman sees the same thing, even if Gross won't be cheap. We have to keep this guy.
Dud: RG Nate Chandler (-9.0)
As a converted DT this should not surprise anyone but the good news is Chandler improved as the season progressed. He could be a solid back-up in future seasons though he was a bit of a liability in 2013. Certainly RT Byron Bell isn't nuch better on this list.
Analysis: Right Side Needs Upgrading
Gee, where have we heard that before? All over CSR for the entire season! It's not just rhetoric now, we have solid data to back it up. My kingdom for a RT!
I'm still in shock that we were able to get such an overall reasonable performance when the right side was such a weakness. We need to give OL coach John Matsko and his assistant Ray Brown a round of applause here for doing a really good job over the course of the season. [clap][clap]
OL Coach John Matsko
Assistant OL Coach Ray Brown
I think we can all agree though an infusion of talent on the right side would still be very welcome so these guys don't have to work so hard next year.
