Garry Williams injury: Panthers RG suffered torn MCL and ACL in loss to Seahawks

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

Just when we thought it couldn't get any worse.

The hits keep on rolling in for the Carolina Panthers.

Joseph Person is reporting that right guard Garry Williams suffered a torn MCL and ACL yesterday against the Seahawks. Williams was injured in the first half and didn't return to the game.

Given the nature of MCL and ACL injuries, it's extremely likely that Williams' season is over. That's unfortunate because the Panthers were already paper thin on the offensive line with Williams in the rotation. It's assumed that in the interim Chris Scott, Jeff Byers or Travelle Wharton will move to right guard unless Amini Silatolu is unable to play this week, which would mean those three would have to cover both guard positions.

However, Person also reported that Silatolu will be able to practice with no limitations on Wednesday, so hopefully that's a sign that he will be ready to go on Sunday when the Panthers travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills.

Stay tuned as we follow this developing story, and we will try to provide any updates on Williams' status for the season and/or any replacements that are brought in to fill his roster spot should he end up on injured reserve.
