Hello, CSR. Good to be back here after nearly a year - and here's to the beginning of another season of our favorite sport in the world. Field Gulls members will likely be using this post to answer questions about our team, from a fan's perspective. As an opening, let me answer a few questions I think are important and should come up:
Is Russell Wilson the real deal? Yes.
Is Russell Wilson really good? Yes.
Is Russell Wilson the next coming of [fill in the blank here of a greatest NFL QB]? Of course - he's the God Emperor of Mankind, and thus has many different disguises. In fact, that greatest NFL QB was probably Russell Wilson guiding the NFL to its current iteration.
Is Russell Wilso - okay, that's enough about him.
Is our defensive line banged up/depleted? I guess you could say that, yeah. Clemons will likely not play this game, Irvin isn't going to, but we did get a few FA and draft picks to work out. Bennett will likely play, providing good interior pressure, Tony McDaniel looked pretty excellent in the GB preseason game, O'Brian Schofield has been awesome filling in for Clemons, and Benson Mayowa is really evolving into a great pass rusher. This is very much a testing-the-waters game; we will be very eager to see how these pieces fit in to the defense as it is now.
How did the offense evolve in the latter half of the season? Well, Pete Carroll unleashed Russell Wilson. That's in his own words, for the most part. They quit holding him back and let him go. He then proceeded to troll the league like so:
Not only that, but the offense started to click. The offensive line started to gel (I know some people hate this expression, but alas, it's apt), chemistry started to develop (chemistry that should've been there at the beginning of the season, but wasn't because of the three-headed QB rep split up until the third preseason game), and the playbook just started to expand.
Throw down questions, I or one of my compatriots will attempt to answer all questions with some amount of clarity and with as little circle jerking over our players as possible. Also - Rome 2 Total War, discuss.
