We have game MVP candidates on both sides of the ball and special teams. Let's start with the defense since I think we all agree they got it going early and often.
DE Greg Hardy - Just a Monster day with 3 sacks, 3 tackles for loss, 3 QB hurries and 6 combined tackles
LB Thomas Davis - 1 sack, 2 tackles for loss, 1 QB hurry and 5 combined tackles
DE Charles Johnson - 1 sack, 1 tackle for loss, 3 QB hurries, 4 combined tackles
SS Robert Lester - 1 INT, 1 pass defended, 1 fumble recovery and 5 combined tackles
CB Melvin White - 1 INT, 1 pass defended, 1 forced fumble and 2 combined tackles coming off the bench
On offense we of course start with the ring leader:
QB Cam Newton - 15 for 27 with 233 yards, 3 TD passes, 1 rushing TD, 45 yards rushing and 1 INT
WR Brandon LaFell - 3 receptions for 53 yards and 2 TDs
WR Ted Ginn - 3 receptions for 73 yards and 1 TD
RB DeAngelo Williams - 23 rushes for 120 yards (5.2 ypc)
As I mentioned special teams had a decent day as well:
P Brad Nortman averaged 48.5 yards on 2 punts
K Graham Gano went 5 for 5 on PATs and nailed a 53 yard FG with plenty of distance to spare.
So there are your game MVP candidates.
