The gameday inactives list is out for the Panthers, and it's not good news for the defense.
Panthers Gameday Inactives
DE Frank Alexander
DT Dwan Edwards
CB James Dockery
CB Josh Thomas
CB DJ Moore
SS Quintin Mikell
RB Kenjon Barner
Missing Alexander and Edwards will be a huge blow to the defense who will need all the pass rush it can get to prevent Giants quarterback Eli Manning from carving Carolina's depleted secondary like a Thanksgiving turkey this afternoon. Rookie DE Wes Horton will get his first gameday jersey today, and he hopes to make an impact on the field when he's rotated in to keep the Panthers' premier pass rushers--Charles Johnson and Greg Hardy--fresh throughout the game.
Another fellow rookie--UDFA Robert Lester--will get his first career start at strong safety after being called up from the practice squad to replace Charles Godfrey, who was placed on injured reserve earlier in the week due to an Achilles injury he suffered last week in Buffalo. Mike Mitchell, a natural strong safety, will get the start at free safety this week.
The secondary will also be missing several cornerbacks, as both Josh Thomas and DJ Moore are unable to play this week. That means the Panthers will rely on the trio of Josh Norman, Drayton Florence and Captain Munnerlyn to prevent New York's combo of Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks from taking over the game.
As I said before, the pass rush better do it's job or it will get ugly in a hurry.
According to Steve Reed via Twitter, here are the players who will be inactive for the Giants:
