Nope not touching this not. Not going to do it. Nope not at all.
Why am I typing this? Why can't I just let this go. Why does fandom hurt so much? Why is the print so small up here but not lower in my post? THESE THINGS DON'T MAKE SENSE.
Seriously though, this past weekend's game was rough. Buffalo is a good team. A young team. What you saw on the field was a mirror of what could be for both teams. On one side you have a young team, fighting for its right to belong, and a fan base that desperately wants to see a win. On the other side, you have a young team, fighting for its right to derp, derp, derp, derp, derp down the field, with a fanbase that desperately wants to not derp any more. You could claim that Buffalo is currently going in the direction that we want to be. Or you could claim we are going in the direction of Cleveland. Whichever fits the boat you want to be in right now is fine with me. FEELINGS. Most of you are probably won't agree with me, but I think there are some easy ways to fix this squad, and this year, but I don't think we all want to read/hear/understand that right now. So.......
Fine, here are my abbreviated thoughts on that game, and then I'm not thinking about it again:
Firstly, that ticky tack pass interference where the ball was clearly overthrown at the end of the game pretty much sealed it. Never mind that they left the WR open in the endzone. That penalty two plays before iced the game.
Second, why the hell did we run on 3rd and 5 at the end of the game. Pretty much summed up the Panthers since the Arizona playoff debacle. Playing it safe, which leads to losing the game. Fucking stupid.
Thirdly, what the hell were they running 4 verts every series in the first half for? They completed one long pass. YOU DON't HAVE AN OFFENSIVE LINE. WHAT ARE YOU DOING? TRYING TO GET YOUR FRANCHISE QUARTERBACK KILLED? The play takes too long to develop against NFL competition. Spurrier proved that it couldn't be a staple in the NFL.
Lastly, I decided that I wouldn't drink this weekend. No Clemson led to a sober saturday. Which led to beer olympics and terrible hangover sunday. Which led to laying on the couch, watching the Pampers play, which led to tequila, margaritas, and rounded out with Fireball shots to toast a terrible Panthers end game again. WHY DOES FANDOM HURT SO MUCH.
