Harewood is officially listed as an offensive tackle, but played last season at guard for the Baltimore Ravens. He started a total of five games at left guard and got snaps at right guard as needed. Harewood has excellent size at 6-foot-6, 330-pounds but has the same inherent problem many of Carolina's offensive linemen have -- he can't pass block.
In five starts Harewood allowed one sack, two hits and 12 (yes, TWELVE) quarterback hurries. He is a very capable run blocker, but his complete lack of awareness in pass protection is why he doesn't have a job right now. Harewood wouldn't be a bad rotational lineman, but it would be problematic if the Panthers are asking him to push for a starting role.
There is no indication that a contract was offered at this time, which probably relegates Harewood to tire kicking status. We'll update you if there are any new developments.
