Another day of training camp is in the books, so let's take a look at the storylines for the day.
Things got a little chippy today at practice
This stuff happens during training camp all the time. The Panthers aren't the first team to go through this, and they won't be the last.
Here's just one example of the action from today's practice:
Bell Hardy shove. Guys getting into it. Johnson in pile. Cam pulls him out and holds him back. O and D have to be separated— Jonathan Jones (@jjones9) August 6, 2013
Like I said, no need to be alarmed -- this is typical camp behavior.
That doesn't mean Ron Rivera has to like it though:

I can somewhat understand where he's coming from. You don't want to injure each other before the season even starts over something minor in camp.
Rivera on chippiness: it's about team...we want a healthy 53.— Joe Person (@josephperson) August 6, 2013
Yes. We want a healthy 53. We need a healthy 53. We deserve a healthy 53.
Panthers playing musical chairs at right guard
Nothing says "I trust Garry Williams" more than putting every single warm body in at right guard during practice.

I don't know the exact reason behind mixing and matching, but it seems like they would pick a plan and stick with it, especially with the first preseason game coming up in just three days.
Thomas Davis returns to practice
It's good to see TD back on the field.
Thomas Davis lets what would have been a clear pick-6 slip through his hands during team period. Does some push-ups.— Max Henson (@PanthersMax) August 6, 2013
Hopefully in a real game situation he makes the play. Of course, it would be neat to see him do pushups on the field during a game as well.
Armanti continues to shine
Yeah, I know -- it's just practice. But maybe he's finally put it together?
Armanti makes long catch. Crowd goes wild.— Joe Person (@josephperson) August 6, 2013
Armanti's good camp continues: Catches TD pass from Cam.— Joe Person (@josephperson) August 6, 2013
Hopefully this translates to the field when there's a real game being played. The Panthers need all the WR help they can get.
A new punt returner in the works?
I know this will never happen in a regular season game, but we've got to at least make it happen during the preseason.
DE Charles Johnson just did a great job fielding a punt. Good luck tackling that guy on the open field.— Carolina Panthers (@Panthers) August 6, 2013
I'd pay good money to see Charles Johnson return a punt. Wouldn't you?
Greg Hardy made an interesting wardrobe choice this morning.

And for those of you who need visual stimulation:

Not saying there's anything wrong with yoga pants, by the way. He can wear anything he wants as long as he plants opposing QBs in the dirt.
Due to the colorful nature of the alleged comments made to DJ Campbell by Greg Olsen, I'm going to give today's quote of the day award to Steve Smith for his advice to the rest of the WRs in camp:
LaFell said yesterday 89 has told WRs to go out and be "disrespectful" in their play and "try to win a job and take one of theirs"— Jonathan Jones (@jjones9) August 6, 2013
Well, that's it for today's recap. Stay tuned for the next one tomorrow. The team starts practice at 9:15am again, so the next recap should be posted around noon tomorrow.
Oh, and before I forget, thanks to the CSR members who were giving updates in the open thread from Spartanburg. We appreciate your efforts to keep us informed!
