Joe Adams and Frank Kearse have cleared waivers, and will be placed on injured reserve -- according to Joe Person.
It's a stroke of luck the Panthers could use, as they now have the opportunity to lean on Ted Ginn in 2013 while retaining the rights to Adams, should they decide to make him their returned in 2014. Kearse will have a chance too, but was an almost-assured cut after the team elected to draft Star Lotulelei and Kawann short, while also re-signing Dwan Edwards.
Adams had become a punchline among Panthers' fans for his propensity to fumble, which made it easy to overlook the fact scouts believed he had a chance to be an elite level return man in the NFL, and possibly a contributor as a slot receiver. Most of the top-flight return guys in the NFL all had fumble-prone rookie season, and it's something that comes with the territory. Retaining him is definitely good news.
