Another practice is in the books. Can you believe that there is only one more practice session before the team breaks camp for the year and heads back to Charlotte? Time sure does fly when you're having fun.
Anyway, on to the recap.
Kugbila and Hixon still out of action
This has become a recurring theme in Spartanburg. It appears that they will be out for another week.

If Hixon isn't able to get on the field soon I won't be shocked to see him cut, especially if David Gettis continues to play well.
Here's the full list of those who didn't practice today:
Kugbila, A. Edwards, Hixon, Stewart, Tolbert, Beason, Pianalto, Senn and Adams not practicing today.

Speaking of roster spots, Ron Rivera has said that they don't plan to replace Zordich on the roster now that he's done for the year with a torn ACL. Rivera does not plan to fill Zordich's spot at the moment. Def not a FB. "Doesn't make a lot of sense" at this point, he said Come on Ron, you can never have enough fullbacks. As if things weren't already bad enough for the hog mollies, it appears that one of the backup linemen could be done for the year: Bruce Campbell injured rotator cuff. Will require surgery. May be season ending but Rivera is unsure Of course we'll know more as time goes by, but it's a matter of concern for sure. Campbell isn't great, but he's at least decent depth -- which is something desperately needed on the offensive line. And if you're wondering when Campbell got hurt, it was in the first preseason game against the Bears: No sign of OT Bruce Campbell, who hurt his shoulder in game vs. CHI. Rivera seemed concerned last night about severity of it. I hope Campbell doesn't have to miss the whole season. He may not get a lot of playing time as a 2nd string offensive lineman, but knowing he's there in case of emergency is better than the alternative. The starting unit will play more this week than they did last week: First half. RT @Millertime8921 @josephperson how long will the starters play in Thursdays game? This isn't a surprise. Teams build up the playing time for the starters during the first three games and then give them most of the day off in the 4th game. It was going to take a lot for Morgan Lineberry to unseat Graham Gano as the placekicker anyway, but Gano isn't losing his spot according to Joe Person: Tweeted this last night: Gano has been money this camp. He certainly looked good on the 50 yarder he banged through against Chicago. Hopefully that's a sign of what's to come this season. The Panthers used an unlikely receiver at punt returner this afternoon. Ted Ginn, LaFell and Barner fielding punts. I'm not sure why LaFell was fielding punts, unless he's preparing for some sort of emergency punt return role this season. Or, it could just be because they needed a third person, and Adams was on the shelf for today's practice. Calf strain. RT @hendemc: @josephperson What's happened to Joe Adams? I'm not sure if LaFell has any experience fielding punts, but I'm not opposed to seeing him give it a try in one of the last three preseason games. On a good note, it appears that James Dockery's surgery was a success: Surgery went well! Thanks to this who reached out👌 Here's to a speedy recovery, James. Hopefully you can be back on the field soon. Armanti Edwards wants to prove to everyone that he can play WR in the NFL. Armanti Edwards says for first time as an NFL WR he feels he can be counted on. He appreciates fan support and wants to prove doubters wrong If the first few weeks of camp are any indication, I would say the light finally came on for the QB turned WR. Let's hope he keeps up the momentum and produces when the games count. Well, that's it for today's recap. Stay tuned tomorrow for the final recap of training camp.
