The Panthers are taking every precaution they can with RB Jonathan Stewart. After meeting with team doctors who assessed the condition of his surgically repaired ankle, Stewart was placed on the physically unable to perform list, meaning he cannot participate in any team practices until he is removed from the list. The team can take him off the list at any time during training camp.
Below are some thoughts from Stewart on the injury and his placement on the PUP list:
"It’s real difficult for the fact that you don’t want to be sitting, standing around during training camp watching guys get reps," ... "You got to take things from the mental perspective because that’s all you can really do when you’re limited. And just missing out on being part of the team, sometimes you feel left out when you’re not participating. Those are things I’ve dealt and we’ve got a good team and good group of guys that rally around each other, so I’m very fortunate."
Rivera said he's going to keep his eye on Stewart, along with LBs Jon Beason and Thomas Davis, as the team starts training camp activities. All other players passed the team's conditioning test.
As always, stay tuned to CSR for any updates on Stewart's condition.
