Hooray! We all know the Panthers are the greatest NFL team to ever grace the presence of the American sports realm (and any other realm for that matter) but we also are faced with the ever recurring problem of our invisibility on the national stage. Why others don't recognize the talent that we know to exist in our great franchise is beyond me but I always enjoy any time we actually make a headline on a nationally visited website (sorry CSR). You can imagine my sheer joy when I spot this picture on the front of Deadspin this evening and think "Wow MarkthePantherMan (I do refer to myself this on a consistent basis... and I talk to myself out loud) we made the big time here!
Of course I first think that the name on the back of the jersey is just misspelled. "No its spelled K-U-G-B-I-L-A!" It suddenly dawns on me that Deadspin doesn't have an article on our soon to be AllPro new RG from (college here) but instead is referencing our great historical figure- RaeRae Caruthless.
I have to admit, I thought this might come up with the Alex Hernandez stuff. They have been talking about Ray Lewis' issue and he apparently didn't even try to kill the guy (proven in court so you know its true). This kind of stuff really makes me want the panthers to be good even more because the only time we ever get mentioned in the media is for a coldblooded POS, the fact that JR bee slapped Drew Breez during CBA talks, or that Cam Newton sucks and will never be good. WIN SOME DANG GAMES PLEASE!!!
Here is the link to the article. What do you guys think? Is our invisibility earned because of our track record or because of our small market? Is RaeRae our most historically significant player in terms of league history (although we have no HOFers there are a lot more of them than atempted murderers in NFL history. Especially attempted murderers of pregnant mothers)? Or should I just shut up and enjoy the brief moment in the spotlight for the teal, silver, and black?
