Last year was a year of promise for the Panthers, there were Super Bowl guarantees and so much of the spotlight was put on a man named Cameron Newton. Cam as he is called by just about everyone was hailed as the man who could throw like Peyton Manning but run like Michael Vick, some more conservative people just called him a better and faster version of Big Ben. Soon during the season we saw the spotlight "fumble" away from Cam. His team was losing, not just losing but losing heartbreakers. Truth be told Cam still put up above average numbers, he seemed to just make the wrong plays at the wrong time. I don't believe very many true Panther fans will forget the heart crushing loss to the Falcons or any other heartbreakers this year.
There were times where as a Panthers fan I wondered. "What if Matt Moore hadn't have gotten injured and we won a few more games that year". Well the first thought that comes to mind is that we would be a cellar dweller the next year and ended up with someone like RG3 or Andrew Luck. Or what if Jimmy Clausen had even a slightly below par season, who would we have drafted the next year since QBs are usually given more time to develop. Would we have Von Miller or maybe even Patrick Peterson? What if Jake Delhomme hadn't have had Tommy John surgery or what if he had at least a average game that fateful Divisional round playoff game? Would Jake have kept his confidence and have been a solid QB for those following years.
The moral of this story is lets not dwell on the past Panther Nation. We have had so many bad breaks that some of them have led to good things. I officially name the 2013 Panthers the team of fate. Fate has brought this team together, now it is time to finish the job. KEEP POUNDING!
