According to a tweet from ESPN, Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez was arrested this morning, but the police haven't formally announced the charges and have said they will not announce them until he has been presented to the court:
DEVELOPING: Aaron Hernandez arrested. Massachusetts State Police say charge will not be released to public until presented to the court.— SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) June 26, 2013
Again, it's currently unknown what the exact charges are, but it's obvious that Hernandez was arrested for some form of involvement in the recent murder of former semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd, whose body was found within a mile of Hernandez's home.
We discussed the issue last Friday when police issued a warrant to search Hernandez's house, but keep in mind that when we discuss his arrest we should be careful to jump to conclusions without having all the details of the case. His arrest doesn't mean he killed Odin Lloyd, as the police could be arresting him for obstruction of justice after discovering that he had destroyed his home security system.
Right now we don't know a lot, but we do know that Hernandez is in a lot of trouble, and his future in the NFL could be in jeopardy if he's on the hook for more than obstruction charges.
