Desmond Bishop is on the verge of being cut by the Green Bay Packers. He had two straight 100+ tackle seasons before rupturing his hamstring last August. In 2010 he had 103 tackles (six for loss)/three sacks/two forced fumbles and one interception (which he returned for a touchdown). In 2011 he had 116 tackles (9.5 for loss)/five sacks and two forced fumbles. He has a nose for the ball and his sack numbers were trending upwards, which is impressive for a middle linebacker. Carolina is loaded at LB with Kuechly/Beason/Davis/Blackburn/Klein/Senn but what would bringing in one more Superbowl winner that has proved he can play in this league at a high level hurt? His current salary at Green Bay is $3.464 million and coming off of an entire year off due to injury, he would come relatively cheap to us. Linebacker is not a need for the Panthers but Bishop is still only 28 years-old and has just two full-time starting seasons under his belt so there is plenty of tread left on his tires. Bishop was arguably the Packers best defender in his last full season played due to Clay Matthews having a down year (registering only 6 sacks), Charles Woodson would be the other player given consideration. With that being said, he has not yet been officially released but speculation has it that it will be coming within the next few days. So should Gettleman bring Bishop in as a Carolina Panther if/when he is cut?
