I guess we can file this one in the "things we never thought we'd see" department, but Nate Chandler is switching from DT to OT according to a tweet from Joe Person.
#Panthers have moved DT Nate Chandler to off tackle. Chandler is an athlete, went to UCLA originally as a tight end.— Joe Person (@josephperson) May 23, 2013
So, I understand that the Panthers need an OT, but I don't think moving a guy from DT to OT is going to fill that void. Sure, Chandler played TE at UCLA, but wouldn't it be easier to just find an OT somewhere on the waiver wire?
Our very own James Dator weighs in on Twitter as to why he thinks the Panthers are making this move:
If I didn't know better, I'd swear the Panthers are just trying to find some way to keep Chandler on the team because they like him— James Dator (@James_Dator) May 23, 2013
Yeah, it's kind of hard to disagree with that. But, if he played TE in college and we could use a backup TE, then why not just make Chandler a backup TE?
James gave his thoughts on that as well:
@bdubsmitty I'm a fan of 300-lb tight ends.— James Dator (@James_Dator) May 23, 2013
We all are James. We all are.
So, Panthers fans, what do you think about this strange move? Does this make any sense to you? Sound off in the comments!
