OK, help me understand why it would be a bad idea for the Carolina Panthers to take a look at Tim Tebow as a backup QB. I'm not coming from a I-Love-Tebow postion but rather could this make the team better with little to no risk.
Just some thoughts:
#1 He is a great locker room guy and extremely hard worker
#2 He's an athletic QB who can run just like Cam, so there would be some plays available already.
#3 There is a higher risk of Cam getting hurt than other traditional pocket only passers ( e.g.RGIII) and Anderson can't run. ( I realize we are trying to get Cam running less, but it is still part of Cam's advantage and playbook)
#4 He'd come cheap
#5 Aren't there already a lot of Christians and high character guys in the Panthers locker room, so he may not be looked to as the only one or leader of them?
#6 He should only go to a team that already has no-doubt established QB in place so there's no controversy.
I know there would be some media circus and that's a negative, but I don't think the fans would be clamoring for Tebow over Cam even if Cam plays poorly to start the season. As long as there is no clear possibility for him to start over Cam barring an injury/suspension.
