According to a tweet by Steve Reed, the Panthers are meeting with another WR prospect today, and he is a familiar name amongst Panthers fans:
Clemson WR DeAndre Hopkins is visiting with the Panthers today. He's already had a private workout with WRs coach Ricky Proehl.— Steve Reed (@SteveReedAP) April 8, 2013
The fact that Hopkins has already worked out with Proehl says a lot about what the Panthers think about his draft stock. Whether or not they are doing their due diligence in case their other favorite - Keenan Allen from Cal - is off the board or they are looking into taking Hopkins in the 2nd round is yet to be known, but the fact of the matter is this: The Panthers are interested in DeAndre Hopkins.
Fans are split on whether or not they want Hopkins to be selected by Carolina, as some fans think he's one of the best receivers in this draft class while others think he would be a waste of time. Regardless of what any of us think, the men in charge of making the decisions are interested enough in him to both work him out privately and meet with him, so it's safe to say he's on their big board of prospects.
As always, stay tuned to CSR as we will provide any new information to this developing story.
