Walt's Draft on WalterFootball.com
1.14 - Sheldon Richardson UT, Missouri
2.12 - Jamar Taylor, CB, Boise State
4.11 - Cobi Hamilton, WR, Arkansas
5.15 - Duke Williams, S, Nevada
I do not like it at all. I do not think Richardson will become anything more than an average starting UT, and it will take him awhile to get there. I think that their are clearly better players still on the board. Drafting for need between two guys that are almost the same value is good. But this would be reaching for need. I do not believe GMan will be doing any more of that.
Once we get to round 2, I think that the players are bunched up (value wise). This is the point we can start plugging positions of need. That would be NT, OG, LT, RT, UT, then the next level is WR and S. We are looking very hard at the WR's to see if anyone stands out. I do not believe that means we reach for one.
My mock using Walts to determine who is available at each pick.
1.14 - Bjoern Werner, DE
Jones, Werner, and Mingo are all available. This is crazy, but it happens every year. The great drafting teams are the ones that pick them up. I hope GMan makes us a great drafting team. These three guys that really should be picked in the top ten. We better take one of them because they are BPA.
2.12 - Johnathan Hankins, NT, Ohio State
When Mock drafts had us taking him in the top 3, I was not happy at all. But seeing him on the board at 44 would be great.
4.11 - David Quessenberry, G/C/OT, San Jose State
I really hate to wait until the fourth round to address our miserable OLine. But BPA does not always meet need.
5.15 - Akeem Spence, UT, Illinois
I want to address the OLine. I would love to get a LT, a OG, and maybe even a RT. But this board did not fall that way. At least Q would be a very flexible player to provide competition to Bell and Hangartner.
Imagine if we did get this draft.
Big$$-Hankins-Dwan-Hardy with Werner and Alexander rotating in at DE. We would be able to get pressure on Ryan and Brees all four quarters instead of just the first three.
