CSR Social Media: A changing of the guard

Rob Carr

We're currently going through a transition phase here at CSR, but fear not: everything's going to be alright.

As most of you know, Tim Long has been our "Social Media Czar" for a little over a year now, and in that time he has tirelessly worked to build our social media presence from the ground up into something that we can all be proud of.

Sometimes, however, that crazy thing called life gets in the way, and we are forced to give up things we enjoy because we simply don't have the necessary time to devote to them.

Such is the case with CSR. As of yesterday Tim has stepped down from his position as Social Media Czar, and has been replaced by none other than yours truly. (In case you missed the byline: yours truly is BW.)

Now, before I start yammering about all the stuff I plan to do now that I have total control over CSR am the new Social Media Czar, I would like to allow Tim the opportunity to formally say goodbye to you all:

As outgoing social media Czar for the last year or so, I have to say it was a pleasure interacting with Cat Scratch Readers on a daily basis. Without a doubt, CSR fans are the smartest Panthers fans anywhere. And the writers at CSR are hands down the best in the business. It made my job as social media Czar a whole lot easier.

I especially enjoyed posting on Twitter game days when we could all commiserate--and sometimes celebrate. The CSR Twitter users not only provided great insight into the game, but were pretty darned funny as well. It really made the game day experience a lot more interesting, to say the least.

You won't skip a beat with BW, the new social media Czar. If there was one person who could hit the ground running with CSR social media, it's BW. I fully expect the CSR social media experience to get even better over the next year as BW develops his own style and gives readers a truly unique take on the Panthers.

Keep pounding, y'all, and thanks for all the support over the past year.

Aww shucks, Tim. Way to make a guy blush.

Now, what does this mean for you? Not much, honestly. I don't plan on doing a complete 180 from what Tim has done, because Tim has done great work since he started this thing last year, and it would be foolish of me to go in a different direction. My plan is simple: I want to continue building what he has started and give CSR an even greater social media presence than we have now. I don't want it to change - I want it to grow.

I can't do that without you though. What I need from all of you is to do the following:

1. Follow CSR on Twitter.

2. Like CSR on Facebook.

3. Add CSR to your Google+ Circles.

4. Tell everyone you know about CSR's social media presence.

If everyone here can help me by doing those four things, CSR's social media presence will ascend to heights we've never seen before. Y'all want to be a part of that, right? That's what I thought.

As your new Social Media Czar my goal is to keep you informed about all things CSR and Carolina Panthers through our social media platforms. I also plan to re-boot the "Best of Panthers Twitter" series that was so popular amongst the readership, so be sure to stay tuned for that.

Now that I'm taking over the social media portion of the site, we (the Royal We, as in the Editorial Staff) decided to bring in another Editor to help keep things running smoothly. So, without further ado, please welcome Canadian Panther to the fold as he takes the jump from Moderator to Editor. We are looking forward to seeing what he brings to the table in his new role, and we have all the confidence in the world that you guys won't even realize that any changes were made.

That's the plan, anyway.

Once again, thank you all for the support you've shown Tim during his reign as Social Media Czar, and I hope I am able to do him proud.

If you haven't done it already, why don't you take a moment to like the CSR Facebook Page? All you have to do is click the like button below. How easy is that?
