Kenny Vaccaro told the social media world today in a tweet that he is coming to Carolina for a visit.
You can see the tweet here:
Jets visit was dope, really nice facilities. Time to pack it up for the night and head to Carolina— Kenny Dwayne Vaccaro (@KennyVaccaro4) April 10, 2013
A divided fanbase on the prospect of drafting Vaccaro aside, this should really come as no surprise to anyone. Vaccaro is one of the players who could potentially be taken by the Panthers at #14 overall if the right mix of BPA vs. need were to take place on draft night, so it makes sense that they would want to meet with him pre-draft.
Also, it doesn't hurt for the Panthers to do their due diligence and use one of their visits on Vaccaro if for no other reason than to determine whether or not they want to keep him on their draft board at all. This meeting is no guarantee that he is going to be Carolina's selection - it's just a case of the Panthers' brass doing their job.
For all the pertinent info on Vaccaro, check out the scouting report on Vaccaro that was posted by our newest contributor Curry Schoff last week. It's a great feature piece that's chock full of information, so be sure to click the link and read it.
One thing he said about Vaccaro stood out to me more than anything else:
At fourteen, I would consider Vaccaro a reach for the Panthers, depending on what other talent is available.
If a guy who also runs the Longhorns blog thinks he's a reach, then I tend to agree that he is probably a reach at 14th overall. But, then again I don't know what Carolina's draft board looks like. I'm sure we'll know more about the prospect of drafting Vaccaro after his visit, so once we find out more on this situation we'll be sure to let you know all the juicy details.
