With the #44 pick I selected DT Kawann Short from Purdue. You may have seen my summary scouting report on Short last week in which I laid out the positives and weaknesses within Short's draft profile. With all of the top WR's off the board and CB Joanthan Banks going right before us at #43 I felt Short was the best intersection of BPA and need for the Panthers.
Mocking the Draft's Dan Kadar weighed in on this selection:

Here's our own Dan Kadar to break down the pick: The way this draft has played out for Carolina would be quite a coup. After getting a new offensive tackle in Lane Johnson in the first and now Short, the Panthers would have two sure-fire starters. Short is an active, gap-shooting defensive lineman. who often went overlooked playing on bad Purdue teams. He’s not a first-round player because his effort is inconsistent during games. But with the right coaching in the NFL, he could have the same impact as someone like Sheldon Richardson despite getting drafted a few dozen picks later.

So what do you think of my two selections for the Panthers? Weigh in on the poll and in the comment thread if you choose.
