Stedman Bailey tweeted earlier this afternoon that he is coming to Charlotte to visit with the Panthers:
Charlotte, NC bound today. Taking my first official team visit. Where do you guys think I'm going???—STEDMAN BAILEY (@iamSB3) April 1, 2013
And before you ask yourself: No, this isn't an April Fool's joke - unless Bailey's the trickster.
I wouldn't read too much into this, because as Darin Gantt quipped on Twitter, the Panthers are meeting with pretty much anyone who caught a football last year. However, this could give some indication on how the Panthers plan to fill their needs.
With the team scheduling meetings with second round graded guys like Bailey and Patton, it's beginning to look like they will go after a WR in the 2nd round and take the best player on the board at #14 (as if any of us should be surprised by this strategy). My spidey sense tells me that we will end up with a DT/WR 1st/2nd round draft combo, but right now that's nothing more than speculation on my part based on the players they have met with so far.
At this point we have no idea what the Panthers are planning to do, but we do know one thing's for sure: if they took the time to meet with Bailey, they are definitely interested in him. How much interest they have is yet to be determined, but if it's enough to schedule one of their allotted meetings with him then it's possible we could see him in electric blue next season.
As always, stay tuned to CSR for any updates to this story as we will provide any new information when it becomes available.
