I know a lot of us would love to see the Panthers trade back and accumulate more picks in the draft. Especially gaining back a 3rd round pick. I know that is easier said than done. But if it could happen what team, if any, would you think would be a good and willing trade partner? Also, if we can gain a 3rd round pick, who do you think we should select with the new 1st and 3rd round picks?
The best trade partner for us I believe is our NFC South rivals the Atlanta Falcons. With them releasing John Abraham at DE, they are looking to go younger with a pass rusher. I think if they move up to #14 they can easily select Bjoern Werner from Florida State. If they were to stay at #30, he will be long gone. If that were to go down we could get pick #30 and add pick #92 in the 3rd round
At pick #30, I think we have a lot of options of where we could go. Personally, I would love for us to take Desmond Trufant-CB Washington. But I am reading that he might be gone before that because his draft stock is rising. But other options could be DeAndre Hopkins-WR Clemson, Johnathan Hankins-DT Ohio State, or Jonathan Cyprien-S FIU. All of which are a need and none would be a reach at that draft spot.
At pick #92, I like Barrett Jones-OL Alabama. He can play multiple positions on the line. Not really sure where he fits best though. Could play RG if we decide Piggy's contract is too much or shift out to RT and let Byron Bell move to RG.
This is all hypothetical, but I look forward to hearing your input and what you think.
