A new report has surfaced saying the information from Steve Reed that was mentioned in the previous story is wrong.
Here's a tweet from Joel Corry - a former player agent who is now with the National Football Post - giving a completely different account of how Gross' restructure went:
Jordan Gross has cut his '13 salary from $8.7M to $5.5M. His '14 contract year at $6.7M will now void next February 7th.— Joel Corry (@corryjoel) March 27, 2013
Now everything is more confusing.
Of the two scenarios we have to work with, Corry's is more plausible, because I just don't see Gross - a 10 year veteran - playing for $1M this year instead of almost $9M. I also don't think the Panthers would insult him by offering him a measly $1M for his services. I think they would just release him and allow him to find work elsewhere before doing that.
Regardless of whose numbers are correct, Jordan Gross has restructured his contract. Once we know the official details of Gross' new deal we will provide them here, so stay tuned.
