I feel if somehow Tavon Auston were available, I believe the Minnesota Vikings could be an excellent trade partner. I know some Panthers fan would die if we had the opportunity to draft Tavon and passed on him but hear me out. With the Vikings trading Percy Harvin to the Seahawks, they will be looking for someone to fill that role. Even though they did sign Greg Jennings at WR, they will be looking for a slot receiver that could work well in their return game too. With the Vikings receiving an extra 1st round pick with the Harvin trade, they have the ammunition to move up and still would have a 1st round pick available.
If the Vikings offered us their 25th and 52nd overall picks for our 14th, I feel we should jump on it. We possibly could request a 7th rounder. According to the trade value chart, this would be a good trade for us.
If that went down my choices would be...
25th- DeAndre Hopkins- Explosive receiver to groom behind Steve Smith and in my personal opinion a better option that Tavon Austin. I dont think he will last until the 2nd round, so we should draft him now.
44th- Jonathan Hankins-DT Ohio State or Larry Warford-G Kentucky. Personally I am leaning towards Warford because he is a bulldozer on the offensive line and is an everydown player as opposed to Hankins who could only be a two down defensive tackle.
52nd- DJ Swearinger-S South Carolina or Jesse Williams-DT Alabama. Both safety and defensive tackle are an obvious need. But I will go with Jesse Williams because he is a run stuffer and also since we passed on Johnathan Hankins in the previous 2nd round pick.
Let me know what you think.
