2013 NFL Free Agency: Carolina Panthers sign Captain Munnerlyn to 1yr/$1.1M deal

USA TODAY Sports

Details have been released on the contract signed by veteran CB Captain Munnerlyn, and it's not a bad contract at all...if you're the Carolina Panthers.

For the fans who were worried the Panthers would overspend on returning veteran Captain Munnerlyn, then this news should comfort you. The Panthers were able to bring back the cornerback for one year and $1.1M.

The breakdown of his contract is illustrated in the tweet below:

This is a good deal for the Panthers, even if the addition of Munnerlyn is redundant when coupled with the signings of DJ Moore and Drayton Florence. They get a veteran who's versatile enough to play on both defense and special teams, he's already familiar with the system, and he comes at an incredibly low rate.

At first I was unsure of why the Panthers would bring a guy like Munnerlyn back into the fold, but now that the details have been released and it's obvious that they're not breaking the bank for him, I see no reason at all to complain about this deal.
