With just 5 picks in this years draft I will attempt to fill the major holes on both sides of the ball. Here goes.
1st Round: Jonathan Cooper OG/C UNC, NFL Comparison: Rodney Hudson OG/C Chiefs Opens wide running lanes and holds the point of attack with long arms and a wide base that makes moving him hard to do. Former High School wrestler and 47 game starter is very durable. Under went shoulder surgery before his senior season but missed no playing time.
2nd Round: Eric Reid FS LSU, NFL Comparison: LaRon Landry FS Big, Physical hitter with long arms and down hill athelete with a quick read and react ability. Hit's like a LB and plays with to much aggression sometimes. That is also his biggest weakness. Throws his body around and is not always in control at the poit of the hit and WR/TE are able to shed his tackle. A bit stiff in coverge and missed both Clairbonre and the Honey Badger this season.
4th Round: Aaron Dobson WR, Marshell, NFL Comparison: Sidney Rice WR, Seahawks Savvy route runner whose reilable hands and body control make him a great prospect here. Makes impossilbe catches possible, has great leaping ability and sells routes to DB. Better football player then athelete and dosen't poscess elite speed and has small hands.
5th Round: Montori Hughs DT, Tennessee-Martin, NFL Comparison: Red Bryant DT Seahawks: Quick and a fiery playing style, use's big hands to swat blockers and has a nice burst off the snap. Loves to trash talk and is very competive. Off field behavior while nothing crimal is not welcome. Needs to improve his field awareness and find the ball quicker. Hot running motor when full but has been known to take plays off.
6th Round: Sanders Commings CB, Georiga, NFL Comparison: Tanard Jackson CB/S Classic tweener with the build of a Safety and playing style of a CB. Good hand eye coordination to either intercept or swat balls from WRs. Best in press-man coverage. Weak against the run and chacater issues drop his stock. Possible conversion to LB simular to what TD did. Project with upside.
This years draft has needs everywhere for the Panthers and no money in FA makes making a mock draft hard. But a gave it shot anyway so tell me what you think.
