Falling over after engaging Albert Haynesworth is the best photo of Chris Williams I have... yup - Jonathan Daniel
So, this is a thing...
The Carolina Panthers held a visit with offensive lineman Chris Williams, formerly of the St. Louis Rams, according to Howard Balzer.
A former first round pick out of Vanderbilt, Williams was widely hailed as a draft bust. The Chicago Bears chose not to extend his rookie contract after a series of injuries, and he found a place in St. Louis in 2012. Williams has not started a game since 2011.
This is another move set to be a cheap, one-year contract at a position of dire need. Williams is known primarily as a right tackle, but has the ability to move inside and play guard. He would compete with Geoff Hangartner if signed -- assuming the Panthers don't address the position in the draft.
The draft picture grows increasingly complicated, but all signs point to the Panthers selecting either a defensive tackle, wide receiver, or offensive tackle -- provided one falls to them at the 14th pick.
