According to Albert Breer, former Lions CB Drayton Florence is on his way to Carolina to take a physical today.
Unless former Lions CB Drayton Florence has a reason to lie to NFL Network reporter Albert Breer, it looks like the Panthers are showing interest in the veteran cornerback.
Breer tweeted this earlier:
CB Drayton Florence tells me he's heading to Carolina to take a physical.

Signing Florence wouldn't be a blockbuster move by any means, but the Panthers do need help in the secondary, and since they don't have a lot of money to spend in free agency a guy like Florence makes a ton of sense for Carolina. Florence made $1.5M last season in Detroit.
In his 11 years in the league - where he has played in San Diego, Jacksonville, Buffalo, and Detroit - the 32 year old veteran has amassed 460 tackles, 18 interceptions, 94 passes defended, 3 forced fumbles, and scored 2 touchdowns. While those numbers don't put him in the upper echelon of talent available in a cornerback heavy free agent market, this is exactly the kind of under the radar signing the Panthers would make given the financial restrictions they have.
There's no guarantee that Florence will be offered a contract, as for right now the only thing we know is he is going to take a physical, but teams don't give physicals just for the fun of it. If Florence passes his physical, then there's a good chance he will be the next free agent signing the Panthers make.
Stay tuned to CSR for any breaking news on this developing story, as we will provide any new information on this situation when it becomes available.
